College Administrator or kolaches? That was the question
facing Tommy Bambrick after 20 successful years of service as
an educator. Trading in his suit and tie for an apron and rolling
pin, a doctor of education soon became "Doctor Kolache."
Tommy willingly became the student and sought the mentorship
of Erwin Ahrens, owner of the legendary "Kolache Shoppe."
A "gentlemen’s handshake" agreement followed
and Tommy purchased the age old secret dough recipe and Olde
Towne Kitchen was born. After serving students, teachers, and
families, Tommy learned to value the importance of listening
and putting good ideas into action and always pursuing the "Best".
Thus, his goal for Olde Towne Kitchen was to provide his loyal
customers with a kolache and a sandwich that would far surpass
the ordinary and not break his customer’s billfold. "New
and Fresh every morning" became his motto – a motto
that has served him well. Tommy’s day begins before the
sun comes up personally delivering mouth-watering, award winning
kolaches, sweet rolls and sandwiches. His Number 1 consideration,
is to see a smile on his customer’s face after they taste
their pastry and experience the friendly service of his staff.
Tommy is grateful
for each of his customers because their support of Olde Towne
Kitchen has enabled his dream to grow from its inaugural store
on 43rd and HWY 290 to six retail locations that provide corporate
breakfast and lunch catering throughout metropolitan Houston.
Should you come into one of the shops and see a man wearing
an Olde Towne Kitchen shirt and hat with a twinkle in his eye,
rest assured that you have met "Dr. Kolache." Before
you leave, he will likely shake your hand and tip his hat in
your honor and in a deep voice he will say..."Thanks
for coming in, and have a Great Day!"
